The new year always makes us mindful of just how quickly time passes. The first year of parenthood isn’t all that different. It goes by in a flash and is jam-packed with firsts, like smiling, rolling over, laughing, new teeth, and crawling. Before you know it, your baby will be a toddler. As the new year begins, take a moment to reflect on special occasions and everyday moments by keeping a journal of one-sentence memories written directly to your child. As your little one grows, take note of moments that show their developmental milestones and personality:
January 8: “You smiled for the first time today when I picked you up!”
January 12: “When the dryer buzzes, you cry.”
January 25: “Little one, we discovered your first tooth poking through your gums today.”
As your child grows, these everyday memories will be wonderful reminders of the early days of their life. Enjoy each moment of this new life in the world.
